When it comes to cleaning the window panes, it is important that you avoid using abrasive cleaners.  If you do use an abrasive cleanser, you are running the risk of damaging the surface of the window.  • A lot of people will use washing up liquid to wash their windows but if you do this, then it is vital that you are using something that is gentle and free from anything that is too strong.  If you use chemicals that are very strong, then you are running the risk of damaging the seal around the window panes.• If you want to clean your windows to a good shine, then using a solution of warm water with white vinegar and a drop of washing up liquid is a good choice.

You should make sure to use ten parts water to one part vinegar. Use a soft cloth to wash the windows.• After washing the windows, you will get a streak free shine if you use rolled up newspaper to dry them.• The frames should also be washed with non abrasive cleaners to avoid damage.  Some people will use power washers to clean the window frames but if you do this, it is important to make sure that the pressure is not too high.•

You may find that the hinges on the windows get very grimy and need to be cleaned in order for the window to open and close with ease. Warm soapy water and a clean cloth will do the trick although you may need to lubricate the hinges afterwards.  You can do this with a silicone based product that has been made for these windows. The great thing about double glazed windows is the fact that they really do not require a lot of maintenance to keep them looking fantastic.  Cleaning them when they get particularly dirty will ensure that they are in great condition for years to come.
